VICTORIA -- There's a new trend developing in the capital region and burger fans love it.

In the last two years, multiple burger restaurants have not only opened, but have found success in one of the hardest industries to crack.

Fast-food options still line many Victoria streets but they're receiving some competition from what's being called "gourmet" burgers.

Restaurants such as Bin 4, which now has a second location in Langford, say they're surprised but pleased by the success.

Big Wheel Burger in Cook St. Village also recently pursued the burger lounge format and says business is thriving.

The trend has even worked its way into classrooms at Camosun College's culinary program. Students say with so many burger oriented restaurants opening up it's important to be able to cook something better than the standard fast-food burger.
